Graham Brightwell

Graham Brightwell (°1962/04/13) is a professor of Mathematics, who started playing Othello in 1985, when he found himself sharing an apartment in Louisiana with Imre Leader. He has served as Chairman of the British Othello Federation, and as Editor of the British Othello Newsletter.
He has finished 2nd in WOC three times (1988, 1989, 1997), and was on the UK team that won the World Team Championship in the same three years.
He won the British championship in 1988, 1995, 1998, 2000 and 2006, and the Cambridge Open in 1992, 1997 and 2005. He came first in the European Grand Prix (EGP) in 1992 and 2005.
Winner British Grand Prix 1997 and 2000.
He was responsible for the "Brightwell Quotient" (BQ) tiebreaker, now used in many tournaments including the WOC.
WOC participations;
1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1994, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2007.
In the 80's Brightwell often played the opening F5D6C3D3C4F4E3, which is now called "Brightwell".
